          OUR ROOTS

          Twelve years before this was a brochure.

          Once in a Life grew out of Hands-On Institute, which began in 2014 working with schools, universities from around the world and local communities across Nepal. Over the years, our work took us well beyond the usual travel routes. We worked alongside communities, stayed in their homes, supported local initiatives, learned from local people and built relationships that continued long after a programme ended.

          Those relationships became the foundation for Once in a Life.

          Today, we bring together the finest of Nepal; exceptional hotels and heritage properties, remarkable food and thoughtful hospitality, alongside private homes, local hosts and places many travelers would otherwise never encounter.

          Aapshwara, one of Nepal’s first Dalit community homestays, is one example of a relationship that grew from this work.

          We don’t simply know the places we take you. We know the people, the stories and the relationships behind them.
